Together in Harmony is an Oakwood University USM initiative designed to bring students, alumni, churches, and prospective students together through intentional worship and fellowship. Rooted in the belief that worship has the power to unify, these experiences create space for genuine encounters with God while fostering meaningful connections across communities. Through music, collaboration, and shared faith, Together in Harmony highlights the beauty of being in one accord.

Our Founder

Bethany Boatswain

Oakwood University Senior, USM Fellow

Bethany Boatswain is a student at Oakwood University and a participant in the United Student Movement Fellows program. Originally from New York, she is rooted in her home church, Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church.

With a heart for both worship and community, Bethany launched the Together in Harmony initiative with the vision of bringing current students, alumni, churches, and prospective students together through a shared worship experience. Through United in His Presence, she hopes to create spaces where young people can genuinely encounter God while experiencing the spirit of unity that defines the Oakwood community.

Her passion is to strengthen the connection between Oakwood University and churches across the New York area, reminding others that worship has the power to bring believers together in one faith, one sound, and one accord.

Our Speaker

Dr. James Doggette Jr.

Oakwood University VP for Enrollment Management

Dr. James Doggette Jr. is a dynamic pastor, author, and transformational speaker known for his ability to inspire individuals to live boldly and purposefully in alignment with God’s vision. With over a decade of pastoral experience, he has dedicated his life to preaching the gospel, empowering communities, and equipping individuals with the tools needed for both spiritual and personal growth.

As a graduate of Oakwood University with a degree in Ministerial Theology and Communications, Dr. Doggette has expanded his impact through leadership, teaching ministry, and clinical chaplaincy.

Dr. Doggette has served in various leadership roles, including pastoral liaison work with the United States Congress, and currently serves as VP for Enrollment at Oakwood University.

Dr. Doggette is passionate about challenging the status quo and inspiring a generation to dream fearlessly, live intentionally, and pursue a deeper relationship with God. His message is both timely and transformative, making him a powerful voice for this generation.
